FOCUS at UTD - The University of Texas at Dallas

About Us

FOCUS is now in its twelfth year at UT Dallas. We seek to serve the campus community however we can. Our big meetings are on Sunday nights, but the life of our ministry happens in our small groups, one-on-one's, service projects, and fun events. We hope that you will stop by at least once, and that we will be able to bless your college experience in some way.

FOCUS at CCCC - Collin County Community College

About Us

FOCUS is now in its sixth year at Collin College. We are a partner group to FOCUS at UTD, which was started in 1998. We meet weekly on Thursday nights at 7:30 PM in back of the Cougar Cafe at the Spring Creek Campus. We have also made a strong effort to organize and participate in various service projects.

FOCUS is the campus arm of the Northeast Church in Garland. We have been a registered student organization at UTD since 1998. Many of our members attend our Sunday Night Service on campus as their primary service throughout the week. Others remain involved in different churches and ministries while being involved on campus through FOCUS. While the look and feel of FOCUS has changed significantly over the years, our mission has always remained the same: To make and mature disciples to the Glory of God. (Matthew 28:18-20)

Making Disciples: “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit . . .” Looking around at churches today, we can see that the message of Christianity has lost much of what made it so offensive to its original hearers. The radical call to offer one’s entire life as a sacrifice to God by becoming a follower of Jesus has been forgotten or ignored. We are committed to calling people to give their lives, their devotion, and their allegiance to Christ and not to any creed, denomination, church, or ministry.

Maturing Disciples: “. . . and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” Many people answer the question, “What does it mean to be a Christian?” with some explanation of how to be saved. That’s like someone asking how to be a great wife and getting wedding instructions. Becoming a disciple is like enrolling in college or getting married—it’s just a starting point. As a ministry, we are committed to helping disciples mature in their commitment and obedience to Christ.

To the Glory of God: “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.” Jesus made it very plain through his life and message that this world is about God. Any attempts to change God’s mission or to try to attain it for our own glory will ultimately meet with failure. We are committed to glorifying God in everything we do.
